Me and My Girl

I bought my wife a bike a couple of weeks ago. Best move I ever made. Riding with her is pure joy, especially since I ride behind her (hehehe). She is my favorite person to spend time with and now we share my passion for riding. Now, I'm not sure she is as passionate as I am about it, but she likes it. We are getting healthier every day. Now I know that we will have many more years together. All my girls are just about grown, and while a part of me aches over that. I am looking forward to serious us time. Riding into our future adventures together. Just me and my girl.

Feeling Good

I have only been riding eight weeks and I have already lost 20 pounds and one inch from my waist. I am stoked! The town I live in is very hilly, but there are some flat spots to be had. I generally ride the hilly areas twice and then a flat area for a day to give the old legs a break. This system seems to work well for me. I bought my wife a bike the other day. Saturday will be our first ride together. I am excited about it.
The other day I was flipped off by a couple that had to be at least 65 years old. I guess I just held them up to long. It is amazing to me the number of people who are ignorant of the fact that my bike has just as much right to the street as their mini vans, trucks, cars and suvs. Some folks get really peeved. That's why I ride armed. Sad commentary there isn't it? Well back to work. Keep riding.

Hit The Wall

I went riding yesterday in the afternoon heat and boy did I hit the wall. When I finally limped into my yard, I was wiped out. I think it was like 2 hours before I stopped sweating. But you know what? I love it. Muscles were aching, heart was pounding, sweat was pouring, but at least I didn't give up. I made it home. Was I miserable? Yes. Will it slow me down? No way. I am bound and determined to meet my goals. Ride on!

New At It

Well I am finally sick and tired of being fat, sick and tired. After a couple of heart attacks, triple bypass, and Type 2 Diabetes, and COPD I finally see the light lol. I have recently began riding a bicycle. I have 2. I have a Specialized comfort bike, and a Giant Boulder SE MTN bike. I am reading blogs, talking to other riders, trying to learn as much as I can. Yesterday, I rode an entire hour, mostly hilly terrain. I am feeling it a bit today, but it also feels good in a way. I will update my progress and weight loss here as frequently as I can. My goal is 100 lbs and I intend to ride the Katy Trail in Missouri next year which is 265 miles. Alright let's ride!
